"... an incredible weekend"
received from participants of Lupercalia MMII
Review from the Edmonton O Society's website of Lupercalia MMII
held February 15 - 17, 2002 in Edmonton
Lupercalia 2002 was an awesome event and we have no doubt it
will grow into an even larger one in 2003. If you weren't there
you missed a great time as well as the opportunity to take some
excellent workshops.
Starting with an enjoyable Meet and Greet at Buddy's Night Club
on Friday, we began the workshops early on Saturday. Nothing like
a bunch of sleepy kinksters slurping coffee in a hurry in order
to take in some workshops on how to be kinky:)
Workshops included: Communication and Negotiation, Fisting, Flogging,
Clips, Clamps and Clothespins, Massage for Couples, and the Violet
Wand. In the afternoon, two special presentations were given by
author and all around kinkster, JG Leathers. First he did a presentation
on Horse Women and shared with us the harnesses and gear he makes.
Second, he did a demonstation of the Creature, which is an evolution
of the pony harnesses he makes. The Creature is hard to explain,
but it involves a male or female (he has two versions) harnesses
in leather, connected to breast plates for suction and electricity
play, electrified insertables and spankers, a gas mask, sensory
deprivation gear, and the list goes on. During the workshops there
were also vendors on site, offering our community a look at their
wares. They are featured at the bottom of this page.
Later Saturday afternoon, NLA Edmonton hosted a get together
with NLA International board member Hardy Haberman, who also did
the workshop on Clamps and Clothespins. Hardy brought us news
about the direction of NLA:I and helped the good sized crowd in
attendance understand more about this important international
organization.
Saturday night was Black Ice, sponsored by our good friends at
Northern Chaps, Edmonton's Leather Club. The event was held at
Woody's and included a couple of fantasies. Bascially, however,
it was a night of kinksters spending time together, having a few
drinks, and continuing to get to know one another. In Edmonton,
we are proud of the fact that our BDSM society (EOS) and the Gay
Leather community (Northern Chaps) can work together on such events
and welcome one another's members into their respective communities.
Sunday, there was a brunch at The Garage, followed by Lupercalia,
which is a festive party done Roman style. Imagine kinksters dressed
in togas or decked out in their finest leathers. There was food
and drink, a slave auction, games, and more time spent with friends.
There was also a fetish fashion show put on by our friends at
B&D Emporium.
After Lupercalia, a few kinksters
threw a private play party. While the party is not sponsored by
the EOS, it has become a tradition to have one. The party was
open to all attendees of Lupercalia and included about ten play
stations (horses, bondage chairs, bondage table, hot wax area,
crosses, etc.).
The Edmonton O Society and the Lupercalia MMII organizing committee
would like to thank all of the sponsors, presenters, vendors,
volunteers, and participants that made Lupercalia MMII an outstanding
success!
